Some Trends To Look Out For At New York Fashion Week 2020

Safi Bello

If you love fashion and follow fashion or work in fashion or are somehow associated with fashion in any way then you know that today Wednesday February 5, 2020 kicks off New York Fashion Week and it will end next Wednesday February 12, 2020. You can see the full list and schedule of shows on the NYFW website here. New York Fashion Week as with all the fashion weeks from Milan Fashion Week, to Paris Fashion Week, to London Fashion week are all pretty much a big deal in the fashion world and to anyone who loves fashion. Now I've fallen in love with Copenhagen fashion week which just wrapped up last week (January 28, 2020-January 31, 2020).

Back in the day fashion shows used to be something that only magazine editors/writers, stylists and press could attend. Fashion shows used to be exclusive and you pretty much had to wait for the magazine to see the items from the show or wait until it dropped in stores. But due to the rise of the "influencer" and social media platforms like Instagram over the last 5 or so years nowadays if someone has a large following(meaning a huge follower count on Instagram) or lots of engagement on social media you can attend a show.

Also now lots of designers release their runway looks in stores right after the show wraps up. The turnaround time has gotten a lot faster. Also you might see some of the runway looks on "social media influencers" and actresses and models and some other celebrities during fashion week. So you get a chance to see what some of the runway looks will look like.

This post is to show some of the trends that you might see during this New York Fashion Week. A few trends that I've noticed that will be huge is polka dots, bermuda shorts, crochet, bra-tops (also known as the bralette) and retro-style printed looks. I've been seeing these looks everywhere so you'll probably see them a lot this fashion week. Below are some trends to look out for during this New York Fashion Week.
