The Color Block Look
Color blocking is putting two or three different, but complementary colors together in one outfit. It is also considered color-blocking even if the colors are not direct opposites on the color wheel. Bright colors can be much easier than pastels when it comes to creating a look that fits together in order to have a color blocking look. Technically speaking color blocking is when two or more colors are combined or stacked in "blocks" hence the name color blocking.
Color blocking is one of those looks that could be challenging to get right. The reason why color blocking could be difficult to pull off is because there are different styles of color blocking pieces out there. There are color blocking sweaters/blouses/tops, color blocking pants/trousers, color blocking jeans, color blocking dresses, color blocking skirts and so on. So if you do too many color blocking pieces in one look it could be a lot. When I say too much color blocking in one look I mean a color blocking top and and color blocking pants or skirt and the color blocking doesn't complement each other. When shopping for color blocking pieces there are color blocking pieces that have two colors or several colors on the one color blocking piece. So you will have to see which style and look of color blocking you like better. If you don't like the color blocking look that's okay too. There are many other looks out there that you can try out.
