A kimono is pretty much a robe. It is long, loose fitting with wide sleeves and usually tied with a sash or rope. A duster is is also the same as a kimono and a robe. There was a time when robes were only worn at home to go to bed or around the house. But nowadays a kimono/robe/duster are all worn during the day to go to work or school and in the evenings/night when going out for dinner, or dancing, and any other function.
