While at work its very easy to fall into the habit of always saying YES when someone asks you to do an assignment or a task or just asks for your assistance in general. You say YES for many reasons at work. Some of the reasons you may say YES at work is because you want to seen as a team player, you are trying to impress your superiors or you may say YES because you are afraid to lose your job or be reprimanded in some way if you say NO. I'm here to tell you that you don't always

have to say YES and there are ways that you can say NO professionally while at the office. For example if your supervisor or manager at work asks you to take on an assignment and you are running on a tight deadline on another major project you can politely say I really appreciate you thinking of me for this project and then explain what other project you're currently working on. This will let your manager know what you're working on and then the manager can decide which is more important and they can decide if and how they want assignments and projects moved around. They can help you prioritize which one comes first. This way you're not just saying NO to your manager or supervisor you're giving them an explanation for why you can't take on the assignment.
