Layering is one of those things that is crucial and very necessary during the winter months. Layering is when you layer a heat tech top, then a thin sweater and over it a heavy sweater and a cardigan over that with a huge scarf that wraps around a few times, with a thick hat, thick gloves, thermals and heat tech leggings with a huge warm down coat or jacket or a puffer or faux fur or faux shearling coat or jacket.
In NYC it feels like this is the first winter that we've really had in a very long time. I can't remember the last time it's been this cold during the winter. Normally the winters are warm. But now that the winter is very cold as it should be I am layering with a Uniqlo heat tech shirt or, a Uniqlo t-shirt, over the that I wear a thin turtleneck and then a heavy sweater maybe in mohair or cashmere or wool. This winter I find myself layering more than other winters in the past. Even with all the layers it is still very cold. But once you start walking and moving around the cold doesn't feel as bad. But the more you walk in the cold you'll begin to sweat especially if you are layering up.
If you live in a climate like NYC and it's currently winter where you are then you've come to the right place. Below are some looks that show how to layer for the colder winter months.
