The mesh and fishnet flat looks is a look that became widely popular a few seasons ago. Now in 2025 the look is still a thing and still going strong. One of the biggest brands that made the mesh & fishnet flats very trendy is the brand Alaia. The Alaia fishnet flats first gained attention and popularity in early 2024. But the crystal studded mesh/fishnet flats was launched in May 2022. In 2019 The Row introduced a similar style on the runway which helped to pave the way for the mesh flats. The Row version was more of a sock style mesh look.
Fishnet and mesh are both open-weave fabrics, but they differ in construction and purpose. Fishnet is characterized by its distinct, large, hexagonal holes, often used in fashion for stockings, tights, and apparel. Mesh, features a more varied hole shape and is designed for breathability and durability. Both fishnet and mesh have become a very popular shoe option during the spring and especially during the summer months. But now we also have tons of woven style flats that are similar to the mesh and fishnet but the woven ballet flats are more like a basket weave. All are very great looks for the spring and summer months.
My only thing with the mesh, fishnet and woven style flats are that they are usually completely flat without a sole or any cushion to support your feet. So the mesh, fishnet and woven look may not be for walking long distances. But all are still worth trying out. So if you are looking to try out mesh, fishnet or woven ballet or ballerina flats then you've come to the right place. Below are some mesh, fishnet and woven ballet and ballerina flat looks worth checking out.
