Judge upends settlement in Fast and Furious documents case

Politico ---------- A federal judge has thrown a monkey wrench into a deal between the Trump administration and House Republican leaders aimed at resolving a document-access fight that dates back to the Obama era. U.S. District Court Judge Amy Berman Jackson issued an opinion Monday declining a suggestion from the Justice Department and House lawyers that she wipe out rulings she issued in 2014 and 2016 as the GOP-led House was fighting for records about Operation Fast and Furious — a gun-running investigation whose lax practices may have let as many as 2,000 weapons to reach drug gangs and other criminals.
