According to Bloomberg News -- Spanish banks including Banco Popular Espanol SA and Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria SA, may have to give back millions of euros to mortgage customers after a final ruling by the European Union's top court against the banks in a dispute over variable-rate mortgages. The European Court of Justice ruled Wednesday that borrowers in Spain are entitled to be fully reimbursed for excess interest payments on variable-rate mortgages. Spanish bank stocks fell. Banco Popular Espanol SA (POP.MC) dropped 4.4%, Banco Bilboa Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA) fell 1.5%, and CaixaBank SA (CABK.MC) fell 3.5%.
