How To Guide For: Understanding U.S. Foreign Policy And What President-Elect Donald Trump's Plan

Foreign Policy is the plan of action adopted by one nation in regards to its diplomatic dealings with other countries. Foreign policies are established as a systematic way to deal with issues that may arise with other countries. Since the national interests are paramount, foreign policies are designed by the government through high-level decision making processes. National interests accomplishment can occur as a result of peaceful cooperation with other nations, or through exploitation. Usually, creating foreign policy is the job of the head of government and the foreign minister (or equivalent). In some countries the legislature also has considerable effects. Foreign policies of countries have varying rates of change and scopes of intent, which can be affected by factors that change the perceived national interests or even affect the stability of the country itself. The foreign policy of one country can have profound and lasting impact on many other countries and on the course of international relations as a whole. Now that we know what Foreign Policy is and how it works, lets take a look at whats going on with the U.S. Foreign Policy. So according to several reports President-elect Donald Trump is suggesting using Bedrock China policy as a bargaining chip. Trump stated in an interview broadcast on Sunday that the United States would not necessarily be bound by the one-China policy - the diplomatic understanding that underpins ties between Washington and Beijing and that leaves China’s rival Taiwan on the diplomatic sidelines with the United States. China is concerned that the US president-elect indicated that he might jettison a four-decade understanding with Beijing unless its leaders were prepared to strike a new “deal” with his administration. Would President-elect follow through on this. We'll have to wait until next month to find out what will actually happen with the U.S. Foreign Policy and with China and Taiwan.
