How To Guide For: A Look At The Rise In Maternal Deaths During & After Childbirth

There has been a lot of news coverage this year about the rise in maternal deaths during and after childbirth. According to many reports there are a combination of factors that are driving the maternal death rates and making them go up. Some of the contributing factors are obesity-related complications like diabetes, hypertension and the increase in cesarean section births and a whole host of other issues. So what can be done to prevent the maternal death rates from going up, well for starters we need to address the underlying issues and one of the biggest issue is inadequate health care or lack of. Women need to and should have access to medical care that is affordable, accessible and of high quality during pregnancy and even after pregnancy. I am not trying to scare anyone, just making sure women who are pregnant or thinking about getting pregnant are informed.
